As the mother of three young children and a teenager, quite often I find myself thinking about the song "You're gonna miss this" by Trace Adkins. When I start telling Rob about all the crazy things the kids have done during the day while he's at work his usual reply is, "You're gonna miss this." It's strange to think about, especially because my kids are so young, but yes, one day they will all be out of the house and I will miss all the craziness of having kids in the house. Yes, my kids drive me crazy, but at the same time they bring me more joy and happiness than I could have ever imagined.
You're Gonna Miss This (to hear the song, click here)
She was staring out the window of their SUV
Complaining, saying "I can't wait to turn 18"
She said "I'll make my own money, and I'll make my own rules"
Mamma put the car in park out there in front of the school
Then she kissed her head and said "I was just like you"
You're gonna miss this
You're gonna want this back
You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast
These are some good times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
But you're gonna miss this
Before she knows it she's a brand new bride
In a one-bedroom apartment, and her daddy stops by
He tells her "It's a nice place"
She says "It'll do for now"
Starts talking about babies and buying a house
Daddy shakes his head and says "Baby, just slow down"
Cause you're gonna miss this
You're gonna want this back
You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast
These are some good times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
But you're gonna miss this
Five years later there's a plumber workin' on the water heater
Dog's barkin', phone's ringin'
One kid's cryin', one kid's screamin'
And she keeps apologizin'
He says "They don't bother me.
I've got 2 babies of my own.
One's 36, one's 23.Huh, it's hard to believe, but...
You're gonna miss this
You're gonna want this back
You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast
These are some good times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
But you're gonna miss this"

I couldn't have said it better myself. I love that song! Makes me cry everytime I hear it.:-)
I found your blog on Nicole's. It is great to see your little family. You will miss it someday.... so enjoy all of it now and make wonderful memories to last forever! But remember after they are all grown up you will have adorable grandchildren to enjoy and that is the greatest blessing ever!
It's so true...and I have to remind myself OFTEN how much I am going to miss all the craziness. It's amazing how I want them to grow up and not be fussy and whiny all the time and be good, productive, nice children, and then as I look back, I find myself wishing that I'd cherished the time more.
