Sleep

Being the mother of two young boys, I don't expect to get a lot of sleep. I think it's been nearly three years since I've had a decent night of sleep. However, for some reason, I've gotten hardly any sleep this past week. I'm averaging less than four hours and night and it's not consecutive. On Saturday night, I was unable to go to sleep until 7am Sunday morning, and then I had to wake up at 8:45 (yes, an hour and 45 min later) for church. The lack of sleep is really taking a toll on my physically, mentally and emotionally.

I was so exhausted today when I woke up that after dropping Avery off at school, I headed to McDonald's to get a morning jolt of caffeine. Around here they have their huge sodas for only $.99 so I got a really, really big diet coke. I figured that would get me through until the boys took their nap.

12:30 finally rolled around, and I put both boys down for their naps with the intention of taking one of my own. I'd told Rob not to call me this afternoon and I turned off the ringers on the phones. As luck would have it, Cole settled down and fell asleep really fast, Zane on the other hand was a completely different story. For about the first 15 minutes or so, I could hear Zane playing fairly quietly in his crib. Then, he started making high pitched screams. I went in there and asked him to quiet down, knowing full well if he kept it up Cole would be awake in no time.
Well he didn't stop. He alternated between jumping on his bed while singing, "No more monkeys jumping on the bed" (why did I teach that to him?!?!) and screaming (high pitched screams, not crying). Within about 10 minutes, Cole was awake and screaming. So there goes nap time for all of us for today.
