0 for 2

Usually, I consider myself a pretty good cook. Whenever I make things they almost always turn out good, and when they don't it's generally because the recipe was bad. So anyways, Last Saturday I was supposed to bring a dessert to an event I was going to attend. Earlier in the week I decided I was going to make a lemon cream-cheese pie. I have made this pie many, many times and it always turns out really good. I also chose this recipe because it makes two pies, one for me to take, and one for us to have for dessert on Sunday. So on Saturday morning, I started the pie. First I made the cream cheese layer which turned out great. A few hours later, I started on the lemon layer. I don't know for sure what happened but something went very wrong. I knew it from the minute I started pouring the lemon layer on top of the cream cheese layer. It was way too thin and watery looking. The pie never set, it was like lemon soup on top of cream cheese. I was so disappointed, I had been looking forward to this pie all week. So I had a mini tantrum and ended up not going to the even on Saturday night and both pies ended up in the trash.

London posted a recipe a few weeks back for some Honey Wheat Bread that I thought sounded really good. I bought some wheat flour and some more honey with plans to make the bread. So I went back to her blog and copied the recipe onto a file card and got to work. I softened the yeast in the water. Then, I added the honey and salt and mixed it up really well. Now, it was time to add the flour, I carefully measured and added the whole wheat flour, then I started adding the 5 cups of white flour. I got it all mixed up and started kneading in the extra flour. At this point I started thinking that something didn't seem quite right. All of the sudden it hit me, in my mind I remembered seeing oil as part of the original recipe. I looked at my card and there was no oil written on it. I ran back to the computer and checked London's blog again, sure enough, I had left out the oil. The bread dough ended up in the trash too. I do plan on trying again with this recipe sometime this weekend.

Today I am going to be making cookies, let's all cross our fingers that they turn out!
