The side of her pinky had the skin all ripped off down pretty far. Apparently she was playing on the treadmill and somehow got her finger on the moving tread. (I still haven't gotten a strait answer on what she was doing). My first instinct was to head to the hospital, but upon further examination and thought I wasn't sure what they could do that I couldn't. There was nothing to stitch up, all the skin had been burned off. Since Rob was working and I wanted another adult's opinion, I ran her across the street to Jana's house. Her husband Bryan agreed with me. We went back home, cleaned it, put neosporin on it and bandaged it up. Bryan called a few minutes later and thought just to be safe we should get another opinion. He took Avery down the street to her Pediatrician's house and had him look at it. He said we had done everything right and to just keep in clean and let it heal. Poor girl. But, I really hope she learned her lesson and wont mess around with the treadmill anymore.
This picture doesn't do it justice, it looks a lot worse in person. We found out tonight that she was walking on the treadmill, lost her balance and fell. Before she could react her pinky got stuck between the wheel and the mat. She said it started to pull her finger, but she was able to yank it out. From the sounds of things, Avery is very lucky she could have very easily lost her finger.
