No, Seriously, I do.
In two weeks Rob, the girls and I are going on a cruise to the Mexican Riviera. Did you know that after you book if the rate goes down they (Carnival, not sure about other lines) will give you a price adjustment? If the final payment has past then they will give you the difference between the rates in on-board-credit. So I found this program that automatically checks the rates and sends you a notification if there's been a decrease in the price. Over the past few months, there have been two rate drops resulting in $100.00 of OBC.
We were booked in a 4C room (yeah, a sucky inside near the bottom of the ship, but who cares the price was right!). All four of us were going to be cramped like sardines in our cabin, we didn't really care though because we don't plan to spend much time in there. Prior to today, we were paying 399.00 for the first two people and 199 for the 3rd and 4th passengers, making the total (not including tax and port charges) $1196.00
Fast forward to today. There are TONS of two people rooms still available for our sailing (all the 4 people rooms are sold out). They have dropped the price down to 259.00 a person. The only 'problem' was since there aren't any 4 people cabins left we didn't qualify for that rate drop. Well I got to thinking and realized that 259 times 4 equals 1036. That's still a lot less than we were paying. I decided to call carnival and ask if we could switch to that rate if we traded our 4 person room for 2 2-people rooms. They said yes we could so long as the rooms are next door to each other since we have minor children. After spending nearly a hour on hold, it worked out that we now have 2 4E rooms, (we've been moved up 4 decks) and $360.00 in OBC.
Honestly, where else can 4 people go on a 7 night vacation for 1036.00 including all your lodging, food, and entertainment (ok, except for excursions while at port).
