Grotto

For the past few years I have heard different friends talking about the grotto in the Payson Canyon. Last Monday we decided to check it out for ourselves. Getting there was really easy, it's only about 7 miles into the canyon. From the parking lot it's only about a 0.3 mile 'hike.' I use the term hike very loosely because it's really easy, in fact, Zane walked up and down by himself. Once you get most of the way there, you have to walk across a few logs to get over the water. That part made me nervous, not for me, but for Zane. I held his hands as he walked across. Once we made it there, the kids had a ball playing in the freezing water. None of them ventured in all the way to the waterfall, but Avery and Shalyn made it most of the way there. We must have gotten there at the perfect time because we had the place to ourselves. On our way up, we past another family on their way down. When we were on our way down, we passed 3 different families heading up. As we were walking down, Zane tripped on a rock and skinned his knee. We all had a good time. It's a place we'll definitely go back to next year.
