Non-traditional Christmas Tree

This year I couldn't stand the thought of putting up a Christmas tree. Cole will not leave anything alone, I know he will destroy (or at the very least mess up) everything within his reach. Tate is at the stage where he uses everything that holds still to pull himself up on. I can easily see him pulling the tree over on himself. We also have two cats who in years past have messed with the Christmas tree. The kicker was that our fake tree was kept in our storage room in a cardboard box where our main sewage line backed up in October and had to be thrown away.

Initially I seriously considered just painting a tree on the wall and then painting over it after Christmas. One day it hit me that instead of painting a tree on the wall, it would be a heck of a lot easier to paint one on paper and hang it on the wall. So that's what we did this year. I painted the tree and the kids have been decorating ornaments to hang on the tree. It's still a work in progress, ornaments are being added all the time, but this is how it looks tonight. It's not perfect, but in our house, what is?!?!

That's funny and a fun idea. I bet your kids will remember that for a long time!
